The engagement moved day-to-day infrastructure operations to a managed services model with defined service-level agreements. Scope covered 24/7 monitoring of servers and network, automated patch management across servers and clinical workstations, managed endpoint security, and a tiered help desk with response and resolution SLAs. Medical-device connectivity and EHR-adjacent systems were brought under structured change control so scheduling was no longer at the mercy of ad-hoc fixes. A HIPAA-aligned security posture was central to the design. Patch cadence, access controls, endpoint hardening, and monitoring were mapped to documented policies, with audit-ready reporting maintained continuously rather than assembled in a scramble. This gave the network defensible evidence of patch currency and security controls heading into its state audit. With operational firefighting offloaded, the internal two-person team was repositioned as the clinical-escalation liaison — owning vendor relationships, prioritizing clinician needs, and driving forward-looking clinical projects instead of chasing outages. The managed partner handled the undifferentiated infrastructure work while internal staff focused where their institutional knowledge mattered most.
